EMAC is participating in the MICM conferences in Bordeaux (France) on May 10th and 11th 2017

On the 10th and 11th of May 2017, EMAC will take part in the 4th edition of the Innovative Materials and Chemistry of Materials (MICM) trade fair in Bordeaux, France.
As part of the event, Maxime Charman will present EMAC’s work in R&D. This presentation will be a part of the “Technolab : Matériaux élastomères & caoutchouc” (Technolab: Elastomeric material & rubber) conference program.

Signature of a partnership agreement between two recognised experts in rubber compounds: the French organisation, EMAC, and EVERCOMPOUNDS, the Italian company

EMAC and EVERCOMPOUNDS CM MANZONI Group, leaders in the design and manufacturing of tailor-made and technical rubber compounds - in France for the first one and in large-scale production in Italy for the other - have signed a partnership agreement on February 15th 2016.

EVERCOMPOUNDS has a production capacity in the range of 60 000 tons and masters perfectly the production of EDPM, NR and many other elastomers for any application field (automotive industry, cabling works, household appliances market, building and construction…).

Today, together with EVERCOMPOUNDS, EMAC is able to support its French clients beyond its borders while providing them with a wider range of products.

Originally based in Italy and operating on the European, North- and South-American markets, EVERCOMPOUNDS opens up new technical and business perspectives on the French market through EMAC’s exclusive mediation.

This agreement will thus allow both companies to further diversify and grow at an international level thanks to their complementarity. Indeed, by combining their experience, know-how and technological means, they will be able to work together to provide a wide range of customers with solutions increasingly more adapted and innovative.

New module on Rubber within the Master’s degree of Materials at the University of Pau et Pays de l’Adour

The module on “Elastomers and Rubber” opened at the start of 2016 school year, following the new Masters accreditation.

This module is part of the “Sciences and Materials Engineering” Master and more particularly of the “Materials Engineering: Creation, Characterization, Applications” program, coordinated by Frédéric Léonardi. It was created following the discussions held within the Working Group on Elastomers. This group was created by the Aquitaine Region about two years ago (Philippe GONIN) and aims at structuring activities in this field in the Aquitaine Region (now called Nouvelle Aquitaine) to make them clearer. This working group, of which Elastopole is a member, includes EMAC, KSB, Airbus Safran Launchers, AIGLE, CANOE, (Elastopole adherents), Aquitaine Chimie Durable, SOMOCAP, IPREM UPPA.

This module is composed of 25h of classes and 15h of practicals (including visits). This teaching unit aims at providing the basic knowledge of formulation, implementation and characterization of end-properties in preparation for applications. This year, the three speakers are: Maxime CHARMAN (EMAC), Sandrine ANDRE (CANOE) - both members of the section’s Scientific Council – and Isabelle YARZABAL (MLPC-INTL).

At the end of this module, 12 students of the M2 SGM IMECA class have paid ETCHE SECURITE, EMAC, SOMOCAP a visit on Wednesday December 7th, 2016, as shown on the pictures below.

Elastoil project start

The Elastoil project has been selected within the framework of the latest call to project BIP-Ademe 2015. This three-year project is undertaken by EMAC and carried out with the collaboration of two regional partners: the ITERG and the LCPO research laboratory.

The ELASTOIL project aims at developing new extender oils made from renewable sources, that are non-toxic and potentially available while guaranteeing a better performance of elastomer formulations at a technical and environmental level.

The project therefore has a variety of objectives:

  • Replacing oils derived from petroleum by extender oils made from fat;
  • Significantly improve properties of materials formulated thanks to these new additives;
  • Studying the technical-economic sustainability of extender oils developed with a pilot and semi-industrial production;
  • Analyzing environmental aspects of production as well as the potential use of the most efficient extender oils.

Derived products of the European oil industry that do not have enough industrial applications will be used. The question of waste re-use such as waste cooking oils will also be tackled. This strategy will facilitate the restructuration of a French industry aiming for the valuation of co-products with innovative biobased molecules.
